Sawdust Festival

I love love summer! I think you all can tell by my recent postings, that our family really comes alive when the weather gets warmer. There are so many fun activities, places to visit and so many adventures in the summertime.

One of my favorite places in Orange County, if not the world, is Laguna Beach. When we head to the beach as a family it is usually to Aliso Creek Beach or to get a bite to eat on a summer day, Laguna Beach, is usually our destination. Laguna Beach is home to many art festivals in the summer, including Pageant of the Masters, Art-a- Fair and my absolute favorite, the Sawdust Festival.

The Sawdust Festival features over 200 Laguna Beach artists. There are demonstrations, entertainment, food, and many fun classes. We can't wait to explore this year's festival.

Tickets are very reasonable. $7.75 for adults, Children 6-12 are $3.25 and under 6 are free. You can also buy a season pass for $15. The festival starts today and ends August 29th. Hours are 10am to 10pm.

Pinkberry's Happy Hour

I love love frozen yogurt and Pinkberry is at the top of my list! It is delish! Today Pinkberry launches their new flavor, Watermelon. It is sooo delicious! Pinkberry stopped by my home  last week and allowed my family to try the new flavor and we loved it!

To celebrate the launch of the new flavor, all Pinkberry stores will be offering half price , "Happy Hour" from 5pm-7pm everyday, on any Watermelon yogurt . I tried it with watermelon chunks and cucumber and it was so tasty! . I know it doesn't sound like the combo would work,  but it really does. You can try the cucumber and watermelon toppings for free during "happy  hour".

It is a perfect summer treat and a fun treat for the family.

Safety by Lexus

I love being out and about with my family. We usually try to head on an outings about once or twice a week and that usually means we are out driving at least a few hours a week.I worry about safety on the road and especially when I have the kiddos in the car.

Two weeks ago, I had the opportunity to learn about driving safely from the folks at Lexus. I spent an afternoon driving in various conditions, which included simulated icy conditions, hard turning, breaking in the sand with and without ABS brakes  and shifting the car into neutral at a high speed. It was quite the experience and I learned so much! While we enjoyed an afternoon driving cars in various road conditions, the kiddos were able to spend the afternoon playing inside the Kidspace Museum. We were able to drive alongside professional drivers, who demonstrated what to do in these various conditions and what Lexus vehicles offer when it comes to safety.

I learned four very important things that I would like to share with you. I think most of you probably know these things, but just in case you  may not, I thought I would share what I learned.

1. We should all drive with our hands on the wheel in the  9 and 3 position. This is the safest position. I know that I always believed that we should drive with 10 and 2, but this is actually not an ideal position because of the driver side airbag.  I think the 9 and 3 position is actually much more comfortable position  for me than 10 to 2.

2. If an emergency were to arise and you need to stop, put the car in neutral. You can do this at any speed!!. I was actually able to put the car in neutral at over 50 miles an hour. Doing this helped reassure me that if an emergency were to arise and my brakes failed , I could disengage my vehicle by throwing it in neutral.

3. Drive with the wheel pointed towards your body/chest area as opposed to your face. This helps give you the most coverage in case of an accident.

4. Do not pump your ABS brakes. The system is pumping the brakes for you and at a much faster pace. This will allow you to be able to concentrate on your steering.

I had a great time and learned so much. I also was able to drive a couple of different models of the Lexus and let me tell you, I want one badly. I love that starting in 2011 Lexus vehicles will be able to shut down with the press of a button and most cars will have Safety Connect which is a built in GPS system that goes where your car goes and is always on. It provides automatic collision notification and emergency assistance. Plus what can I tell you, the cars ride like a dream and are sleek looking.

Kids Bowl Free this Summer

I almost can't believe it, but it is definitely true. Today is the first day of summer! I love summer and everything that comes along with it, swimming, fun, long days and days of exploration and enjoying life. I like to bowl and this summer, I'm hoping to be able to take advantage of the Kids Bowl Free program.

Kids Bowl Free program allows your kiddos to play two free games of bowling per day, all summer long! Here is how the program works.
1. Select a bowling center near you. Participating centers in the area are the Concourse Entertainment Center in Anaheim, Irvine Lanes in Irvine or Gage Bowl in Huntington Park.
2. Register directly on the bowling center page (The registration is valid only at the bowling center where you register and cannot be used at any other bowling center unless otherwise noted.)
3.After your registration they will send you two (2) emails. The first email is a welcome email and contains your account information. The second email is very important. This email does not contain coupons, but you will need to click the link confirming your subscription to the service. If you do not click the link, the system will not send you the  weekly coupons to you. Every Sunday morning  you will receive an email that contains a link to your coupons and family passes for that week.
4. Once you are all set up and  registered, you will have the opportunity to purchase a family pass if you would like to play with the kiddos.  The Family Pass was created to allow  adult family members to enjoy bowling throughout the summer as well. The Family Pass starts from $24.95 and includes 2 GAMES PER PERSON PER DAY. The Family Pass covers up to 4 adult family members. You may have 1, 2, 3, or 4 adults on the family pass.

It is a great program and you will have a great time bowling. There are so many fun and inexpensive or free things to do this summer. It is going to be a great summer!

Toy Story 3 & Fun Zone at El Capitan Theatre

I am so glad it is Friday for many reasons. The first being that today is the official opening of Toy Story 3. I can't believe it's been 15 years since the first Toy Story was released. I fell in love with the movie the first time I watched it and thanks to my children, I think I can quote almost every line in both Toy Story and Toy Story 2.

On Wednesday, I had the opportunity to take the kiddos to a screening of Toy Story 3 at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. It was an amazing experience. First off let me just say this... I absolutely love Toy Story 3. We loved it so much we are going to watch it again tomorrow. I loved the storyline and the ending is beautiful!  My kiddos loved every moment of it and it was such a kick to be able to watch them sit still for 90 minutes without even a twitch. They were mesmerized! It was also so much fun to be able to watch it in 3D and in the beautiful El Capitan Theatre.

After we finished watching, we headed over to the Toy Story 3 Fun Zone, which is adjacent to the El Capitan Theatre and is included in the price of admission. The Fun Zone area is a Toy Story fan's dream. You will be able to meet Buzz and Woody, take part in Rex's Races, if you are daring take a try at Bullseye's Bungee Jump, ride the Toy Story Ferris Wheel and so much more!

You can also enjoy Dancing with the Toy's Show, a live stage show featuring Buzz, Woodie and Jessie. There is also a bounce house, a play area, a fabulous Toy Zone and a craft area. All in all, a place where young and old will have a blast!

Toy Story 3 and the Toy Story Fun Zone will be playing at El Capitan Theatre from June 18 to August 29. Showtimes will be 10am, 1pm, 4pm, 7pm and 9:30pm.
Admission is $20 for Adults, Matinee is $18, Children are $16 and VIP Admission is $30 and includes popcorn, drink, a reserved seat and no waiting in line.

To purchase tickets and for additional information head over here.

Ridemakerz at Downtown Disney

Have you heard of Ridemakerz? If you have not heard of this fabulous place, let me tell you all about it. Wednesday morning I had the opportunity to the grand opening at Downtown Disney. Ridemakerz is "Build-a-Bear" activity type of store, but instead of building a bear, you build your perfect "ride".  It is a little boy's dream land!

You will start your experience by selecting the body style/color and then move on to your wheels, rims and everything else your ride will need. You can customize and trick out your ride to the max!  My daughter built her own dream car and it was fun watching her pick everything from the style and color(pink of course!!) to the decals (hearts for the girly girl).

My husband and son are heading there today for a dad/son/father's day outing and I think my hubby is more excited than my son! A gift certificate here would be perfect for Father's day or as a birthday gift. This opening weekend, you can purchase one car and get a stock car for free.

One more thing, one of my favorite parts of the experience is the attentive employees. There is no shortage of they are beyond helpful. They made our experience amazing!

Ridemakerz is located adjacent in Downtown Disney, adjacent to Build-a- Bear. You can't miss it! I promise that the boys and girls in your life will love it!

To learn more about the store head here

*Disclaimer- I did not receive any compensation for this post- I did receive a gift certificate to build a car.

World of Color

video courtesy of Disney and Rockinmama.

I had the opportunity to attend the premiere of Disney World of Color's premiere on Thursday. I don't think I can properly describe or rave enough about the amazing and beautiful show. World of Color is Disney California Adventure's newest attraction and it will definitely not disappoint! The new water show is made up of different color lights, your favorite Disney characters and the most incredible music.

The show features 1200, new animation projected on one of the world's larges projection screens and which is 380 ft by 50 ft high. It is an incredible show to watch and one that the entire family will love. The show features some of my favorite  Disney characters such as Wall-E, the gang from Toy Story and The Little Mermaid. My kiddos were able to watch the streaming podcast from the premiere and they haven't stopped talking about and are looking forward to watching it in person!

There are a couple of ways to watch the show. The first is to pick up a FASTPASS at Grizzly River Rapids. If you are planning to watch the show this way, make sure to get your fast pass early, because there are limited tickets available and they will run out fast.

The second and in my opinion the best way, because you can take care of two things at once, is to order a picnic lunch with comes with reserved viewing. Picnic meals are $14.99 and include dessert and choice of beverage. Children's meals include a Souvenir World of Color light-up bracelet. Pick up orders or purchase picnic meals at the Sonoma Terrace between 2:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. You can order your picnic lunches up to 30 days in advanced. Annual Pass holders will receive an additional discount. To order your meals head over here.

The third option and one that we hope to try out next week is to receive preferred  viewing from Ariel's Grotto or Wine Country Trattoria. There will be two seatings. One for the first show from 4pm to 7pm for the first show and from 7:05pm to 830 for the second show. Reservations can be made by callingcall (714) 781-DINE or (714) 781-3463.

The show is 25 minutes long and show times vary each day. For example there are two shows scheduled for today, one at 9pm and one at 10:15pm. To check the schedule, make sure to visit the daily calendar by clicking here.

I had such an amazing time and yes, I was even a little teary. I LOVED the show and I can't wait to see it again. I hope you check it out soon!

Got Milk? Beauty by Milk.

A little over a week ago, I had the opportunity to take my daughter to the Santa Ana Mall to experience the The GOT MILK?/TOMA LECHE BEAUTY BY MILK counter. This natural beauty counter will provide consumers an interactive experience where they can learn about the benefits of the “wonder tonic.” Beauty consultants will be on hand to provide a booklet of tips to keep skin, hair and nails healthy. Shoppers can relax at a lounge area while being served milk-based drinks. Guests can also experience a virtual makeover during their free visit.

My daughter had a great time being pampered and of course drinking chocolate milk and cookies! If you are planning on heading to the Santa Ana Mall make sure to stop at the counter, which is located outside Macy's. It's a fun little lounge! The last day to visit is today!

SEALIFE Aquarium's World Ocean Day Celebration

Legoland's SEALIFE Aquarium will be celebrating World Ocean Day and the 50th anniversary of   Dr. Seuss’ classic One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish on June 5 with a World Oceans Day celebration from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Families can join the festivities as an exploration diver reads the classic Dr. Seuss book underwater! You can also discover your fish name in silly Seussian style; design a party crown with their Clean Ocean Pledge; or have a caricature artist draw them as a character from their favorite Dr. Seuss book.

Here’s a link to a more detailed description of the day.

My kiddos love aquariums and SEALIFE aquarium is one of our favorites! It is a great place to visit with the entire family but especially the little ones! It is truly an aquarium designed for the kiddos!

Regal Entertainment Group..aka.. Edwards Theaters- Free Family Movie Program this summer

I love this time of year because summer is right around the corner. Summer time to me is all about having fun with the kids indoors and outdoors. My daughter Lauren is out of school and my son will be out in about two weeks.  I'm starting to  plan  what we will do this summer. I remembered from last year a program that we enjoyed and one that you will not want to miss.It will keep your kiddos entertained twice a week and it is absolutely free.

The Regal Entertainment Group who own Edwards and Regal Cinemas are once again offering their summer family film festival beginning on June 15th or June 22nd and run until mid August. That is an entire summer of free movies for kids and parents. The movies will run every Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 10am during the festival. The seating is first come, first serve- you might want to get there a bit early to make sure you get good seats. It's a fantastic program and I think it's amazing that it's absolutely free!! Click here for a list of participating theaters and start planning your summer!! Enjoy!!
